DingTalk Shakes Up Its Structure, Betting Big on AI Agents
DingTalk Restructures for AI-Driven Future
In a move signaling its commitment to artificial intelligence, DingTalk has announced a significant reorganization of its operations. The Alibaba-owned enterprise collaboration platform is merging its AI teams and creating new departments to better position itself in the competitive business software market.
The AI Power Play
At the heart of these changes is the integration of the Wukong and MuleRun teams into a single, more powerful AI unit. MuleRun, originally developed within Alibaba Cloud, brings its expertise in AI agents to DingTalk's collaboration ecosystem. Shu Junliang, former CTO of MuleRun, will lead this combined team.

"This isn't just about shuffling teams around," explains tech industry analyst Li Wei. "It's a clear statement that DingTalk sees AI agents as fundamental to the future of enterprise software."
New Leadership Structure
Zhu Hong (Yisu), DingTalk's former CTO, now heads the newly formed Core Platform Business Department. This division will oversee the platform's most critical operations. Meanwhile, the company has consolidated its sales and support teams into a unified Customer Development Department.
Why all these changes now? Industry watchers point to growing competition in the enterprise collaboration space. Companies like Microsoft Teams and Zoom are rapidly adding AI features, forcing DingTalk to accelerate its own innovations.
Commercialization Push
The restructuring also includes establishing dedicated Marketing and Information Technology departments. These moves suggest DingTalk is preparing for more aggressive growth and product commercialization.
Early reactions from the tech community have been cautiously optimistic. "The integration of MuleRun could give DingTalk an edge in practical AI applications," notes Shanghai-based tech consultant Zhang Min. "But execution will be everything."
