Cloudflare's Open-Source AI Workspace Lets Everyone Build Workflows

Cloudflare has officially unveiled its open-source AI agent workspace, Cloudflare OS, a browser-based platform packed with customizable micro-applications that can be shared across teams. This isn't just another wrapper around generic AI tools—it's a system that Cloudflare's own team built from scratch, based on their daily needs, and tested internally for a long time before releasing it to the world. The goal? To let every employee, regardless of technical background, create custom workflows without writing a single line of code.

Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, believes that for AI to truly transform enterprises, it shouldn't be confined to isolated environments. Instead, companies should empower every employee with the ability to securely build and automate workflows. That's exactly what Cloudflare OS aims to do.

From Day One: Capturing Institutional Knowledge

One of the standout features of Cloudflare OS is its ability to capture and accumulate internal knowledge from the very first day an enterprise starts using it. Employees without a development background can tap into the company's internal knowledge base to create personalized micro-applications, build workflows, and collaborate with colleagues—all while avoiding the loss of context that often plagues enterprise AI tools.

The platform directly addresses a common pain point: many enterprise AI tools are too generic and lack the specific knowledge needed to be truly useful. With Cloudflare OS, each team can build intelligent applications that deeply understand their business logic, rather than relying on off-the-shelf products that don't quite fit.

Zero-Trust Architecture and Full Control

Cloudflare OS is completely open source and runs on the enterprise's own Cloudflare account. This means companies have full control over all processes, context data, and system connections, effectively avoiding the lock-in that comes with closed products. The system defaults to a zero-trust architecture, leveraging Cloudflare Access technology to rigorously verify every access and request, ensuring security and compliance with enterprise standards.

Bring Your Own Model

The platform also introduces a "bring-your-own-model" feature, allowing enterprises to connect to any AI model provider through Cloudflare AI Gateway. Administrators can monitor token usage and cost expenditures in real time, with detailed breakdowns by personnel, teams, and applications. They can set budgets and speed limits, or flexibly distribute requests based on task complexity. For instance, routine tasks can be assigned to small, efficient models, while more complex reasoning tasks can call on cutting-edge large models.

Prince added that Cloudflare OS was born out of a lack of suitable products on the market. Now, after years of internal refinement, all enterprises can directly benefit from this polished solution.
