China Mobile's 'New Message Claw' Lets You Control AI Agents via SMS

China Mobile has rolled out a new service that feels like something from a sci-fi novel: you can now control AI agents on your computer by sending a simple text message. Called "New Message Claw," the service creates a remote control channel through SMS, eliminating the need to download or install any app.

For those unfamiliar, "Claw" (often called "lobster" in industry circles) refers to open-source AI action agents that can independently operate computers—processing files, writing code, organizing reports, and more. Until now, these agents lacked a convenient way to be controlled remotely from a mobile device. China Mobile has filled that gap by upgrading its operator SMS system.

How It Works

Users simply send a text message to issue tasks. No specialized software required. The service supports custom scheduled summaries of work information and strong SMS reminders, ensuring important messages aren't missed even when you're away from your desk. Relying on a dedicated operator channel, it offers low latency, high delivery rates, and compliance stability—and sending instructions via SMS won't incur extra charges.

Compatibility and Setup

Currently, "New Message Claw" works with four mainstream intelligent agent products: Feishu OpenClaw, QClaw, native OpenClaw, and AutoClaw. To get started, users complete real-name authentication, then copy the received SMS content into the corresponding chat box of the desktop agent to complete the connection. It's worth noting that while the service provides the remote control channel, executing tasks still consumes the Token quota of the desktop OpenClaw.

Why It Matters

As large model technology moves toward practical applications, action agents that can actually execute tasks have become a focal point for the industry. By integrating AI with traditional communication infrastructure, China Mobile isn't just providing a high-reach mobile access point for open-source agents—it's also offering an innovative model for how telecom operators can transform their services in the AI era.

Key Points

  • China Mobile's "New Message Claw" allows SMS-based remote control of desktop AI agents.
  • No app download required; works with Feishu OpenClaw, QClaw, native OpenClaw, and AutoClaw.
  • Uses operator SMS channels for low latency and high reliability.
  • Task execution still consumes the desktop agent's Token quota.
