ByteDance Shakes Up AI Business: Feishu Team Split, Large Model Revenue Hits $4B

ByteDance is making big moves in artificial intelligence. On July 30, the company announced a major organizational shake-up: it split the team behind its collaboration office app, Feishu (known internationally as Lark), into two parts. One part will merge with the Doubao product team, and the other will join the Volcano Engine team. The goal? To better connect large model products with cloud services in enterprise productivity.

Here's how it breaks down. The Feishu product team will officially integrate with the Doubao product team to form a new Doubao product team. Zhao Qi, who heads Doubao, will take overall charge. Feishu's former leader, Xie Xin, will now report to Zhao Qi. Meanwhile, the remaining Feishu team members have been linked up with Volcano Engine, speeding up commercialization and tech empowerment.

But that's not all. ByteDance also shared some impressive numbers. Based on average consumption in July, its large model business has reached an annualized revenue run rate of $4 billion. That's more than all other domestic large model companies combined, showing just how strong its market momentum and ability to turn tech into cash really are.

This restructuring is a clear sign that ByteDance is doubling down on AI. By breaking down departmental walls, the company hopes to create tighter collaboration between its AI products and cloud services. For users, this could mean smarter, more integrated tools down the line.
