ByteDance Merges Douyin, Feishu, and Volcano Engine to Boost AI Enterprise Services
ByteDance is making a big bet on AI for businesses. The company has announced a major reorganization that brings together its popular office software Feishu, its AI assistant Doubao, and its cloud computing platform Volcano Engine. The goal? To create a one-stop shop for companies looking to tap into artificial intelligence.
Here's what's changing: The Feishu product team and the Doubao product team are merging into a single "Doubao product team," led by Zhao Qi, who previously headed Doubao. Xie Xin, the former head of Feishu, will now report to Zhao Qi. On the sales and service side, the Feishu GTM (go-to-market) team is joining forces with the Volcano Engine team to form a new organization called the "Creativity Service Platform." This new unit will handle sales, marketing, and customer support for ByteDance's MaaS (Model as a Service) and SaaS cloud offerings. Tan Dai, the head of Volcano Engine, will lead this new group, with Feishu sales head Lin Chan and strategy head Shi Zhijun reporting to him.
Don't worry, Feishu isn't going away. The existing products and services will remain unchanged. But they'll now work much more closely with Doubao in enterprise settings. In fact, the Doubao Enterprise Edition, which the Feishu team helped develop, is already being tested by some Feishu customers. The new Creativity Service Platform aims to streamline how ByteDance serves corporate clients, making it easier for them to deploy AI solutions.
This isn't just a minor shuffle. It's a clear signal that ByteDance is putting AI for businesses at the top of its priority list. And the numbers back it up. As of June, the Doubao large model was processing over 180 trillion tokens per day. Volcano Engine remains a major player in the public cloud MaaS market. Feishu's commercial growth is accelerating too: by the second quarter of 2026, more than 90% of new Feishu customers had already bought its AI products. According to ByteDance, based on July's average consumption, its large model business has hit an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $4 billion—more than all other domestic model companies combined.
At the FORCE Original Power Conference in June, ByteDance CEO Liang Rubo made the company's priorities crystal clear: "Climbing the peak of AI is the most important thing for ByteDance at present." He emphasized that the company will focus on AI development and turn Volcano Engine's MaaS business into a core foundation for ByteDance.
As enterprise AI moves from pilot projects to large-scale deployment, ByteDance is building an integrated system that covers everything from model capabilities to application scenarios to commercial delivery. By combining its strengths in models, office software, and cloud services, the company is positioning itself as a major force in the AI enterprise market.
