Apple's New Smart Home Lineup Puts Siri AI in Every Room

Apple is finally making a serious play for your living room. At a recent event dubbed "Welcome Home," the company unveiled four new products—all tied together by a rebuilt Siri AI that runs on Apple's own foundation models. The goal? To turn your house into a context-aware assistant that actually knows you.

A Display That Knows Your Face

The star of the show is the Apple HomeView, the company's first smart display. It packs a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen on a curved speaker base, with a stainless steel hinge that lets you tilt it just right. But the real trick is facial recognition: up to six people can be identified, and each gets a personalized home screen with their own widgets, messages, and calendar—as long as their iPhone or iPad is nearby and unlocked. Shared albums and music stay open to guests.

At $299, it comes in silver, starlight white, rose pink, and space gray, plus a wall-mount version for the same price. Pre-orders are live in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, India, and New Zealand, with a November 13 launch. Singapore gets it October 15. Sorry, EU—regulatory hurdles around Siri AI mean you'll have to wait.

HomePod mini Gets a Brain Transplant

Three years after its debut, the second-gen HomePod mini finally gets an update. It keeps the same spherical shape but adds the S10 chip for real-time computational audio. Pair four of them with the new Apple TV 4K, and you've got a four-channel surround system that auto-calibrates your room (just remember to pair them up).

It also doubles as a Mac speaker and home hub, and can recognize smoke or carbon monoxide alarms and announce visitors by face. At $149 in five colors, it ships October 30. One catch: Siri AI won't be there at launch—a future update will bring it.

Apple TV 4K: Siri Without the Remote

The fourth-gen Apple TV 4K bakes Siri AI right into your TV. With the A19 chip, CPU performance jumps up to 50% and GPU doubles, plus a dedicated AV1 decoder. The remote now supports precise finding, and built-in far-field microphones let you summon Siri without touching anything. Ask follow-up questions, and results pop up in a small window without interrupting your show. It's $299 (or $49.83/month), up for pre-order now, and launches November 13.

Smart Home Gear? Apple's Got Friends

Apple teamed up with LG and Schneider Electric for a new Home Collection of smart devices that work natively with the Home app.

  • LG Smart Security Camera: Wired doorbell ($249.95), floodlight cam ($399.95), outdoor accessory ($299.95), and indoor cam ($199.95). All support up to 2.5K recording, person and pet detection, and free 10-day history with iCloud+.
  • LG Smart Door Lock: $349.95, with ultra-wideband unlocking as you approach—and it works offline.
  • Smart Thermostats & Sensors: Co-developed with LG and Schneider, featuring adaptive temperature adjustments.

This lineup starts rolling out in December, and US Apple Stores will offer ADT professional installation.

Key Points:

  • Apple's new Siri AI, built on Apple Foundation Models, powers all four product lines.
  • HomeView smart display ($299) uses facial recognition for personalized experiences.
  • HomePod mini (2nd gen) and Apple TV 4K both launch November 13; HomePod mini gets Siri AI later.
  • LG and Schneider Electric partner for cameras, locks, and thermostats, available December.
  • EU availability is delayed due to local iOS policies on Siri AI.
