Apple's New Home Push: Siri AI Takes On the Living Room
Apple held a launch event titled "Welcome Home" and unveiled four major products, officially throwing its hat into the smart home ring—a space long ruled by Amazon and Google. The star of the show? A rebuilt Siri AI, powered by Apple Foundation Models, now designed to bring deeper personalization and more natural conversation to your home ecosystem.
So what exactly did Apple announce? Here's the rundown.
1. Apple HomeView Smart Display
The headline act: Apple HomeView, the company's first smart display. It packs a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen mounted on an arched speaker base, connected by a stainless steel hinge that lets you tilt it however you like.
What makes it interesting is the facial recognition. Up to six users can be recognized, and the display automatically serves up personalized home screens, widgets, and private apps like Messages and Calendar—provided your paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and unlocked. Shared albums and music stay open to all visitors.
At $299, it comes in silver, starlight white, rose pink, and space gray, with a wall-mount version at the same price. Pre-orders are live in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, India, and New Zealand, with an official release on November 13th (Singapore follows on October 15th). One catch: due to EU iOS policies on Siri AI, it's not currently available in the EU.

2. Second-Generation HomePod mini
The first new HomePod hardware in three years. The HomePod mini keeps its spherical look but adds the S10 chip, enabling computational audio that adjusts dynamic range and volume in real time. Pair four of them with the new Apple TV 4K and you get a four-channel surround system that automatically calibrates itself (speakers must be used in pairs).
It can double as a Mac speaker or a home hub, and it recognizes smoke and carbon monoxide alarm sounds—plus announces visitors via face recognition. Priced at $149, it comes in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight black, and launches October 30th. Note: it won't support Siri AI initially, but that's coming in a future update.
3. Fourth-Generation Apple TV 4K
The new Apple TV 4K brings Siri AI to the big screen with a full-screen TV interface. Under the hood, the A19 chip boosts CPU performance by up to 50% over the previous generation and doubles GPU performance, plus adds a dedicated AV1 decoder. The remote now has a "Precise Search" feature for the Find function.
Three far-field microphones let you wake Siri without grabbing the remote. It handles complex, context-based follow-up questions, and query results pop up in small windows so they don't block full-screen playback.
Priced at $299 (or $49.83 per month in installments), pre-orders are open now, with an official release on November 13th.
4. Apple Home Collection Smart Hardware Series
Apple has teamed up with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric to launch a lineup of smart devices that emphasize touch-and-go connectivity and native Home app management.
- LG Smart Security Camera: Includes a wired video doorbell ($249.95), floodlight camera ($399.95), outdoor camera accessories ($299.95), and indoor camera ($199.95). Supports up to 2.5K recording, person and pet recognition, and free 10-day historical recordings via iCloud+.
- LG Smart Door Lock: $349.95, supports ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for automatic unlocking as you approach, and works offline locally.
- Smart Thermostats and Sensors: Developed with LG and Schneider Electric, featuring smart thermostats and temperature/humidity sensors with an "Adaptive Temperature" adjustment function.
