Apple's Living Room Takeover: Siri AI Moves In

Apple isn't content letting Amazon and Google rule your living room anymore. At a recent event dubbed "Welcome Home," the company rolled out four major products, all tied together by one big idea: a smarter, chattier Siri AI built on Apple Foundation Models. The goal is to make your home ecosystem feel less like a bunch of gadgets and more like a personal assistant that actually gets you.

Here's what Apple unveiled.

Apple HomeView: The Star of the Show

The headline act is the Apple HomeView, Apple's first-ever smart display. Think of it as a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen perched on an arched speaker base, connected by a stainless steel hinge so you can tilt it just right. It's priced at $299 and comes in silver, starlight white, rose pink, and space gray. There's even a wall-mount version for the same price.

What makes it interesting? Facial recognition for up to six people. When your iPhone or iPad is nearby and unlocked, the display automatically switches to your personal home screen, widgets, and private apps like Messages and Calendar. Shared albums and music stay open to everyone. Pre-orders are live in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, India, and New Zealand, with a November 13 release. Singapore gets it October 15. Sorry, EU—thanks to iOS policies around Siri AI, it's not available there yet.

Second-Gen HomePod mini: Small Sphere, Big Updates

It's been three years since the last HomePod mini, and the new one packs the S10 chip for computational audio that tweaks dynamic range and volume in real time. Pair four of them with the new Apple TV 4K and you've got a four-channel surround system that calibrates itself (speakers must be used in pairs).

It doubles as a Mac speaker and a home hub, and it can recognize smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and announce visitors via face recognition. At $149, it comes in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight black, launching October 30. One catch: no Siri AI at launch—that's coming in a future update.

Fourth-Gen Apple TV 4K: Faster and More Conversational

The new Apple TV 4K brings Siri AI to the big screen. Under the hood, the A19 chip boosts CPU performance by up to 50% and doubles GPU performance, plus there's a dedicated AV1 decoder. The remote adds a "Precise Search" feature for Find.

But the real story is interaction. Three far-field microphones let you wake Siri without grabbing the remote. You can ask follow-up questions with context, and results pop up in small windows that don't block your show. It's $299 (or $49.83/month), up for pre-order now, and ships November 13.
