Anthropic's New 'Mirror' Feature Gives Claude a Reality Check

Anthropic just dropped a new feature that might make you rethink how you talk to your AI. Called Reflect, it's essentially a mirror for your Claude interactions—a way to look back at your usage habits and figure out where you're nailing it and where you could use some work.

Starting today, free, Pro, and Max plan users who have the memory function turned on can access Reflect through the settings page on web and desktop apps. You pick a time frame—1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months—and the system generates a personalized summary of your chat activity. It covers everything from key topics and frequent patterns to common task types and your most active periods.

But here's where it gets interesting. Reflect doesn't just give you a bunch of stats. It evaluates your AI collaboration skills across four dimensions: task delegation, goal description, result identification, and responsible caution. Think of it as a report card for how well you work with AI. For each dimension, you get specific examples from your own chats and targeted suggestions for improvement. It's like having a coach who watches your gameplay and tells you, "Hey, that prompt was too vague—try being more specific next time."

Anthropic's message is clear: making AI better isn't just about the model itself. Your "questioning literacy"—how well you ask questions and evaluate answers—plays a huge role in the outcome. While most companies are focused on what AI can do, Anthropic is taking a rare inward look at how users are doing. It's a refreshing perspective in an industry that often overlooks the human side of the equation.

Privacy-wise, Anthropic has drawn some clear lines. Reflect won't peek into incognito chats or extract files from connected tools. So if you ask Claude to summarize your inbox, the report might note that you frequently summarize emails, but it won't include the actual email content. And any conversations involving health integration tools are completely off-limits.

Anthropic also teased future updates, including a visual timeline of usage duration, the ability to set silent periods, and reminders about how long you've been using the AI. So if you've ever wondered whether you're getting the most out of Claude—or if you're just using it as a fancy search engine—Reflect might give you the answer.
