Alipay's Tutu AI Agent Connects 4 Million Stores to Brands

Alipay's "Touch and Go" platform has launched Tutu, an intelligent agent designed to help brands manage their offline operations more effectively. The move follows an earlier AI upgrade that brought smart capabilities to over 30 million offline touchpoints and introduced Xiaoyu, an agent for individual store owners.

Now, with Tutu, brands get their own AI assistant. It taps into a network of a million smart devices, connecting 400 million consumers with more than a million stores. The goal? Give brands a clearer view of what's happening on the ground—and the tools to act on it.

Why Offline Operations Needed a Fix

For years, brands have struggled with offline retail's blind spots. Industry trends are murky. Store performance—especially for smaller, long-tail outlets—is often invisible. Marketing campaigns might drive traffic, but then shelves go empty or displays fall flat. And because people, products, and places are siloed, it's hard to learn from past decisions.

Tutu aims to change that. It pulls together scattered data along the offline chain, helping brands spot high-potential stores, design better campaigns, and predict what will actually work. Crucially, it doesn't make decisions for brands—it just makes those decisions faster and more evidence-based.

Real Results from Early Adopters

More than 5,000 brand campaigns have already run through Alipay's boundaryless operations, generating billions in additional business. Big names like Coca-Cola, Yili, Mars Wrigley, Nongfu Spring, and Suntory have joined in.

Mars Wrigley, for instance, used the platform to identify over 100,000 potential offline sales points and reach millions of users. Suntory ran a "Touch 3 Get 1" promotion that sold an extra 100,000 bottles in a month—with more than half of buyers coming back for more.

"Boundaryless operations turn every 'Touch and Go' moment into a reason for consumers to come back again," said Eric Chen, General Manager of Suntory's Smart Business Department.

Three Years of Leapfrog Development

Alipay's "Touch and Go" has been evolving for three years, steadily building an AI-powered offline network. With Tutu and Xiaoyu, it now covers the full spectrum: from individual store owners to large brand teams. The platform's latest leap shows how AI can bridge the gap between online convenience and offline reality—making retail smarter for everyone involved.
