Alipay's AI Wallet Agent: Now Your AI Can Pay for Coffee (and Everything Else)
Alipay's AI Wallet Agent: Now Your AI Can Pay for Coffee (and Everything Else)
Imagine telling your AI assistant to order a coffee, and it just... does it. No tapping, no scanning, no fuss. That's the promise Alipay brought to the Bund Conference this week, where the company announced a major evolution in AI payments—moving from "can pay" to "can be trusted to pay."
At the heart of the update is the AI wallet agent, a kind of digital chaperone for your money. When you ask Qwen to order that coffee, the wallet agent steps in to check: Does this match what the user wanted? Is it within budget? Has the user authorized this? Only then does it release the payment. It's like having a trusted friend who knows your spending habits and steps in when something feels off.

Three New Ways to Collect—and Pay
Alipay also rolled out three new "AI receiving" tools for businesses and developers:
- Vibe Pay: Charge each time someone uses your AI-powered website or mini-program. Think of it as a QR code for the AI era.
- Skill Pay: Let your AI skills earn money when called by other agents. One-time fees or subscriptions—your call.
- Machine Pay: For agents that use services automatically, the system meters usage and charges accordingly. No manual monitoring needed.
And for shoppers, three new scenarios are now live: AI Subscription (authorize an agent to reorder at set intervals), AI Assistant Purchase (set a target price and let the agent snag it when it drops), and AI Reservation (agents order for you when a product restocks).

From Digital Wallets to Robot Dogs
AI payments are also stepping into the physical world. Qwen AI Glasses let you pay with a glance—literally, through iris recognition. Future Smart's viaim AI earphones handle voice commands for phone credits, parking fees, and coffee orders. Even the Gaode Momentum robot dog "Tutu" got in on the action, completing price checks, orders, payments, and pickups under user authorization. Yes, the dog buys for you.
"AI payment is not the last step; it becomes the trustworthy commitment engine for agent-based commerce," said Han Xinyi, CEO of Ant Group.
The Trust Foundation: APASS
Underpinning all this is APASS, Ant Group's trust infrastructure for agent commerce. Based on the KYA (Know Your Agent) concept, APASS verifies an agent's identity, intent, authorization, and behavior. When an agent initiates a payment, the system checks: Is this really the agent it claims to be? Is the user's intent clear? Is the transaction authorized? If something looks fishy, it asks the user. If it's clearly overstepping, it blocks the transaction. Every action leaves a traceable record.
This matters because AI payments aren't just about convenience—they're about trust. And that trust is expanding. Visa and Mastercard are already working with Alipay+ to explore interoperability of the KYA framework, connecting agent identities across a wider commercial network.

Going Global, One Integration
For Chinese companies looking to sell globally, Alipay and Ant International offer an all-in-one business management system. A single integration covers payments in over 200 countries and regions. Through protocols like ACT and AMP, it reaches 2 billion users and 150 million merchants worldwide.
The AI new economy is here. And your wallet—or rather, your AI wallet agent—is ready.
