Alipay's AI Wallet Agent: From 'Can Pay' to 'Trustworthy Pay'

At the Bund Conference, Alipay laid out a bold vision: AI payments are evolving from "payable" to "trustworthy." The company announced an AI wallet agent to help users oversee every AI-driven transaction, alongside three new "AI receiving" capabilities—Vibe Pay, Skill Pay, and Machine Pay—plus fresh scenarios like AI Subscription, AI Assistant Purchase, and AI Reservation.

Underpinning it all is Ant Group's APASS commercial trust infrastructure, built on the KYA (Know Your Agent) concept. APASS verifies an agent's identity, intent, authorization, and behavior, turning AI payments from mere capability into a trusted commitment engine.

The AI New Economy: Agents as Business Participants

As users delegate more tasks to agents, AI is no longer just a tool—it's becoming a new business participant. Alipay data shows agent-assisted purchase tasks jumped 7x in five months, with average monthly payment frequency up 3x. "AI payment is not the last step; it becomes the trustworthy commitment engine for agent-based commerce," said Han Xinyi, CEO of Ant Group.

Your AI Wallet Agent: The Trusted Go-Between

Alipay's upcoming AI wallet agent acts as a "trusted person" in the agent world. For example, when you ask Qwen to order a coffee, Qwen handles the search and selection, while the AI wallet agent ensures the process aligns with your intent, authorization, and final cost—executing payment only after confirmation.

It holds the full context of a transaction, linking your initial intention, budget, and the agent's execution. After risk checks and authorization verification, payment goes through. This moves Alipay from "allowing agents to pay" to enabling value exchanges under user authorization and a trustworthy mechanism.

Three New 'AI Receiving' Capabilities

Building on its full-stack AI payment matrix, Alipay introduces:

  • Vibe Pay: Developers charge each time their AI-powered website or mini-program is used—like placing a QR code at your store's door.
  • Skill Pay: Enables protection, pricing, and collection for Skills, generating continuous revenue when called by agents, with one-time or subscription options.
  • Machine Pay: Automatic usage-based billing each time an agent uses a service—like utility metering without manual monitoring.

AI Payments Step into the Real World

Three new e-commerce scenarios make AI payments tangible:

  • AI Subscription: Users authorize agents to order goods at fixed intervals.
  • AI Assistant Purchase: Users set a target price; agents automatically order when the price drops below it.
  • AI Reservation: Agents automatically order when a target product is listed or restocked.

Meanwhile, new species are entering real commercial scenarios:

  • Qwen AI Glasses: Complete payments via iris recognition with just a look.
  • Future Smart viaim AI Earphones: Recharge phone credits, pay parking fees, and order coffee by voice.
  • Embodied Intelligent Products: Robots connect to the "last mile" of physical commerce.

At the Bund Conference, the Gaode Momentum robot dog "Tutu" made "the dog buys for you" a reality: under user authorization, Tutu completes price inquiries, orders, payments, and pickups, bringing products back to users.

APASS: Building the Trust Foundation

If AI payments solve "enabling agents to pay," APASS solves "enabling agents to pay with trust." It establishes a dual trust chain of "identity + behavior" based on KYA, offering agent identity registration, continuous verification, intent security, and trusted evidence storage.

When an agent initiates payment, the system continuously verifies identity, transaction intent, and authorization boundaries: execute if trustworthy; request user confirmation if doubtful; reject clear oversteps—all with traceable records. This shifts verification from "whether a person can pay" to "who the AI is, who it pays for, why, and whether it's authorized."

Visa and Mastercard are jointly exploring KYA framework interoperability with Alipay+'s payment network, promoting agent identity and trust connections to a wider commercial web.
