Ali Qoder's Fast Mode: 3-Second Response, 27% Cheaper

Alibaba's Qoder has rolled out a new Fast mode that promises to make AI-assisted coding snappier and more affordable. The feature is now available on desktop versions 0.4.4 and above, covering personal, enterprise, CN, and international editions. And according to the official announcement, other Qoder products will join the fast lane soon.

What's new for users?

For those on the CN version, there's a fresh Fast tier aimed at everyday tasks that need quick turnaround without breaking the bank. International users get a direct upgrade: the old Performance mode is now Fast mode, with no action required—existing Performance users are automatically switched over. The output quality stays the same, so you won't lose anything in the transition.

Speed and savings, hand in hand

The headline numbers are impressive. Initial response time drops from 8 seconds to just 3 seconds—that's less than a third of Auto mode's response time, half of the international Performance mode, and roughly a quarter of the Ultimate mode. On top of that, credit consumption falls from 1.1x to 0.8x, a roughly 27% reduction. In plain terms: you get answers faster and pay less for them.

How does it stack up against rivals?

To put Fast mode to the test, the Qoder team ran a horizontal evaluation using 10 common developer tasks, pitting it against similar fast modes from both domestic and international competitors. The results? Qoder finished in one-third the time of domestic alternatives and one-fourth the time of international ones. That's not just a marginal gain—it's a serious competitive edge in response speed and execution efficiency.
