AI Video Startup Higgsfield Raises $400M, Valuation Hits $5.4B
Higgsfield, a rising star in AI video creation, just closed a massive $400 million Series B round, catapulting its valuation to $5.4 billion. That's more than four times its previous valuation of $1.3 billion, and it all happened in just eight months. The round was led by DST Global, with participation from Goldman Sachs' alternative investment fund, Valor Capital, and Tribe Capital, among others.
Founded in 2023 by Alex Mashrabov, a former Snap executive, Higgsfield offers AI tools for generating images and videos. The company first turned heads by showcasing AI-generated films at the Cannes Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. Now, it's rolling out products like Cinema Studio and Marketing Studio, aimed at film production and marketing campaigns, respectively.
The company says its annualized revenue has hit $700 million, with operations spanning 200 countries and a user base of 30 million. It's also partnered with 390 Fortune 500 companies. Mashrabov notes that enterprise clients are increasingly weaving AI video into their daily marketing and creative workflows, making the enterprise segment one of Higgsfield's fastest-growing areas.
So, where's all this money going? Hiring, product development, and computing power. Mashrabov points out that video generation is one of the most compute-intensive tasks in AI—generating a single minute of video requires as much processing as 60,000 words of text. As competition heats up with players like Synthesia and Runway, securing a stable supply of computing power becomes essential for scaling and commercializing products.
