AI phones and computers set to outsell traditional models for the first time this year

At a press conference in Shanghai today, senior officials from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) shared the latest breakthroughs in China's artificial intelligence industry. Official data shows that the overall penetration rate of AI in key industries has now strongly exceeded 80%.

With technology advancing rapidly, smart terminals like AI phones and AI computers are seeing explosive growth. The NDRC expects that after last year's shipment of over 100 million units, sales of AI smart terminals will historically surpass traditional non-AI products for the first time this year.

A Flourishing Ecosystem

To speed up the transformation of technology into practical applications, the NDRC has teamed up with multiple departments to establish more than 30 national AI application pilot bases across the country. This push has successfully encouraged major central state-owned enterprises and state-owned enterprises to open up over 1,000 application scenarios, providing a vast testing ground for AI technology to iterate and improve.

On the application side, monthly access to China's native AI office intelligent agents has now smoothly exceeded 20 million times. Meanwhile, daily word token call volumes have already reached hundreds of billions, showing a strong upward trend compared to last year.

Top-Level Design Meets Market Demand

This industry boom aligns closely with policy guidance. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology previously issued an opinion document that clearly emphasized the need to vigorously develop AI phones and computers. The official goal is to accelerate the cultivation of intelligent and integrated terminal product systems by enhancing the integration of embodied intelligence and information and communication technologies.

Data from third-party market research institutions confirms this historic shift. Reports predict that generative AI phone shipments will account for 45% of all phone shipments this year. With policy promotion and market demand working together, the wave of "brain replacement" in smart terminals has become unstoppable.
