Axiom Math, founded by 25-year-old prodigy Hong Letong, has developed an AI system that's rewriting the rules of mathematical research. Since February, their AxiomProver system has submitted eight papers - five of which have already been accepted by academic journals.

The most notable breakthrough came in a study on partition polynomials, where the AI proved six of ten longstanding conjectures - and even found a counterexample that disproved one previous assumption.

The Prodigy Behind the Code

Hong's journey reads like something from a tech fairy tale:

  • Entered MIT at 17
  • Earned dual degrees in math and physics in three years
  • Published nine papers as an undergraduate
  • Completed a master's at Oxford before dropping out of Stanford's dual PhD program

"I realized academia moves too slowly," Hong told us. "When we saw what our system could do, I knew this needed to be in the world now."

In less than a year, Axiom Math has:

  • Raised $264 million across two funding rounds
  • Attracted top talent like former Meta AI expert Shubho Sengupta
  • Achieved a $1.6 billion valuation

The company's ambitions extend beyond mathematics. Their closed-loop reasoning system - which generates, formalizes, and verifies proofs - could revolutionize fields from game theory to economic modeling.

"This isn't just about automating proofs," Hong explains. "We're building AI that can genuinely advance human knowledge - starting with math, but who knows where it leads?"
